Opie’s Final Days

Jay Carney, whom some close associated and I gave him the nickname “Opie”, is leaving as White House press secretary. I give him credit in lasting longer than I thought in such a thankless job. As much as we mocked him for his job as news spinner and propagandist for the administration, he did do better than another press secretary we dubbed Sergeant Schultz for his use of obliviousness as a tool for deflection of difficult questions or issues.

Woe to the Republic: SCOTUS Betrays America

When I was a child, I had no doubts what so ever that the Justices of the Supreme Court of the United States would always make the correct decision, a decision that balanced the rights of the individual American citizen with the principles and Rights enshrined in the Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights. Until recently, I still believed in the wisdom and guidance of the SCOTUS. But that belief and support was heavily eroded by decision that curtailed individual property rights in favor of corporate controlled politicians, of declaring corporations not only equal to an individual person but by their decision gave de facto greater rights to corporations over that of the common man, and the destructive and corruptive Citizen’s United decision.

The Supreme Court has betrayed America. Today the SCOTUS made a decision that has ended my belief that the Justices make decisions based on preserving U.S. citizens rights and preserving the Constitution. Today, the SCOTUS said the individual mandate in ObamaCare will stand. In other words, Americans are property– slaves to the whims of the corrupt, vindictive, and greedy politicians and bureaucrats of the U.S. government.

That’s right my fellow citizens, we’ve returned to bad old days of slavery except this time it’s not limited to one race or area of the country, it’s all of us. Worse, this new incarnation of slavery is codified in law and approved by the very Court that is supposed to help prevent the rise of dictatorship in our government. With this ruling, the SCOTUS has said the government can force any American to buy a product by including a “tax”, as the SCOTUS so quaintly justified their traitorous decision, as punishment for refusal to partake in what ever commerce they demand of you.

Is this the America you want? The next time a corporation or bank has financial trouble, do you really want the government to be able to order you to buy that corporation’s or bank’s product? Well, that’s exactly the dangerous precedent the SCOTUS  made today. In the yes of the government, you are not a citizen, or an individual, you are property. And believe me, there are plenty of wanna-be dictators in our government who will look to use this decision to strip away Americans of their rights and freedoms. All one need do to see evidence of this is to look at the previously mentioned curtailments of property rights and granting supremacy of corporate personhood over the individual to see the path to a dictatorship in this country is fast approaching.

The question is this: will Americans stand for this or fight back against the forces within our nation that want to destroy it for their personal wealth and power? A part of me wants to give up and leave the country as it looks less and less like the nation of opportunity, change, and freedom of my youth. But a bigger part of me wants to fight back and reclaim my country and turn it back to a beacon of freedom and liberty and individuality. I for one, will fight, be it at the ballot box, in the courts, or, if it comes to this terrible last resort, in the streets against the rise of dictatorship in this nation. Despite the corruption of our government, I think America is still worth fighting for.

What will you do, my fellow Americans?

The only good thing about the decision by the SCOTUS: it revealed Obama’s blatant lie that the individual mandate was not a tax. The SCOTUS clearly stated it mandate was (even though they ignore basic economic principle that you are a not a participant in an economic activity if you chose not to partake in said activity). That makes Obama, Pelosi and Reid LIARS! Seems that Representative who called Obama a liar was absolutely correct.

Woe to the Republic!

Obama’s Supreme Court Comments

I’ve been considering President Obama’s comments about the Supreme Court potentially overturning ObamaCare deciding if he was serious or making the usual political hay politicians are wont to do when they think a ruling bu the judiciary will not be to their benefit. I’ve come to the conclusion it was  a bit of both. The fact that it was a bit of both only reaffirms my belief that Obama does not understand how the U.S. Constitution and the government derived from it works.

President Obama claimed that it was unprecedented for the SCOTUS to overturn “a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress.” Obviously the President has conveniently forgotten that last two hundred years or so in which the SCOTUS has acted as a judicial review of laws that may infringe upon, if not outright counter, the framework of the Constitutional government and Bill of Rights all Americans live under. That hardly makes the SCOTUS overruling laws passed by a majority of Congress unprecedented.

Disturbingly, President Obama tried to imply that the number of votes that passed ObamaCare somehow makes it exempt from challenge or judicial review; that the Legislature and Executive branches of the Federal Government were above any and all judicial process. That is the mindset of would be dictators, not democratically minded politicians. The President clearly does not understand that the United States is a Federal Republic in which democracy exists, but the “mob rule” is not allowed to trample those that were in the minority of a vote. This attitude is a primary reason the Founders established our three-part government: to establish checks and balances that prevent any part of the triad from being able to usurp control of the nation for their own ends and rule without restraint.

So I am left wondering:

  1. Was Obama playing politics, trying to stoke up furor amongst his base and the radical left?
  2. Does Obama truly believe the Executive and Legislative branch can make laws without allowing for redress by the public via judicial challenges and review?

As to playing politics, I have no doubt that is exactly what Obama was doing. Unfortunately all he did was harden both sides and perhaps alienated those on the fence concerned that this was an indicator for Obama’s nascent desire for greater power via larger government and perhaps even attempting to intimidate the SCOTUS into submission to his policies.

Does Obama believe the Executive and Legislative branch can rule without public redress? I believe he does. He’s always been a man who supports expansive overarching government.

However, in his support for big government, he has forgotten that since pretty much the founding of the United States the public has always had the right to challenge laws thought to be unfair, discriminatory, or otherwise detrimental to individual liberties, rights, and freedoms. The President forgot something important about the founding of this nation: the Revolution was in part response to the rulers (King George and his court) refusing to acknowledge the legitimate grievances of their subjects in the Colonies.

Curiously, Obama has no complaints about prior “judicial activism” of the SCOTUS. Perhaps he needs a reminder of just a few  important decisions resulting from SCOTUS rulings:

  1. Miranda rights.
  2. Abortion rights.
  3. Contraceptive rights.
  4. Desegregation.
  5. Ruling anti-miscegenation laws unconstitutional. (I.e. Allowing marriage between races)

While I feel the SCOTUS has made several severely flawed decisions, especially of late, and no longer believe they always make the correct, let alone truly constitutional decision, I’ll take the opinions of the Justices musings over that of a blow-hard politician, even if he is the President, any day of the week.

Commentary: Obama’s “Buffet Rule”

Basically Obama is trying to stir up class warfare once more out of fear that he may lose the 2012 Presidential election by attempting to pit the “poor and middle class” against the “rich”. Somehow he thinks dividing Americans will save him a damaging Presidential campaign and that he’ll not have to explain the many failures and lack of leadership over his first term. The days of “Blame Bush” died with the 2010 midterm elections. It’s time for the President to take responsibility for actions and stop wasting time deflecting his poor decisions and policies on to others. If he can’t do so, then he doesn’t deserve to be President of the United States.

Obama Calls On Congress To Pass ‘Buffett Rule’ Tax

“We don’t envy success in this country. We aspire to it,” Obama said in his Saturday radio and Internet address. “But we also believe that anyone who does well for themselves should do their fair share in return, so that more people have the opportunity to get ahead – not just a few.”

‘And how exactly does the government taking successful peoples money and blowing it on failed government projects and stimulus either “fair” or give people “the opportunity to get ahead”? This just show’s Obama’s neo-socialist views that government can create jobs and prosperity through taxation.

While the plan would force millionaires and billionaires to part with more of their money, Congress’ Joint Committee on Taxation estimated that if enacted, legislation reflecting Obama’s proposal would collect $47 billion through 2022 – a trickle compared with the $7 trillion in federal budget deficits projected during that period.

More evidence that this is simply Obama trying to stir up a rabble and ignite the extremist left-wing base of socialists and communists into getting out to support him while trying to imply anyone who is “rich” is somehow evil and bad for America. How about the government truly cut unnecessary spending, something Obama has no interest in since he obviously thinks someone else should have to pay for everything. This is extremely hypocritical considering how Obama uses none of his own wealth to assist his poorer family members, both in the U.S. and elsewhere.

Obama also renewed his call for ending tax cuts for taxpayers earning more than $250,000.

Read that as small business owners, you know the people who pretty much drive local business across this nation. So we clearly see Obama lies when he says he supports small business and then turns around and labels them “rich” in order to tax them. From my perspective someone who make $250,000 from their business is not “rich” whatsoever. I also don’t see how punishing them for being successful through taxation will help others have an opportunity to get ahead unless Obama thinks putting business out of work somehow opens up opportunity. That sort of thinking is simply asinine.

They should call the “Buffet Rule” the “buffet rule” because it isn’t about “fairness” it’s about fat government pigs wanting more taxes to waste on their pet projects while American’s suffer declining quality of life by these same pigs efforts to undermine commerce, opportunity, liberty, and freedom in the United States. Fortunately the so called “Buffet Rule” has about zero chance of passing in Congress, at least for now.

Gas Prices Rising, MSM Covers for Obama

Gas Prices Climbing Fast Hurts Obama And Helps Hybrid Sales

Republicans blaming Obama for gas prices, though factors largely out of his control.

Funny, the lame-stream media was all about blaming President Bush for high gas prices during the 2008 campaign season inferring it was also somehow the GOPs fault back then. Of course the MSM ignored the fact that Congress was controlled by the Democrats then, which also contributed to the policies that led to unacceptable gas prices. (Not that I think a GOP controlled Congress would have been much better.) Now that it’s Obama’s turn to face popular discontent over the increasing bad economic situation  (anyone who thinks otherwise is deluding themselves) as cost of living increases for necessities far outstrip the reduced wages citizens have suffered as a result of the down turned economy the MSM are suddenly forgiving, with efforts underway to deflect blame elsewhere. Sorry, but no amount of deflection can stop the blame being placed on Obama and with good reason.

Here are but a few examples of the Obama’s administration’s policies that have helped drive up the price of oil beyond the usual worldwide market demands:

  • A number of refineries have been shut down and permits for new ones have been severely curtailed.
  • Obama closed most offshore oil exploration and drilling.
  • Obama cancelled the Keystone oil pipeline from Canada.

Additionally, Obama and Congress ignored other efforts they could have done to help reign in prices such as enacting new regulations and restriction on speculators.

These are but three examples of the Obama administrations harmful policies towards the American people and economy. Granted, the Keystone pipeline would still be a couple years away from effecting oil prices in this country but the other two policies can be directly tied to prices as the oil industry adjusts to where, when, and how to bring oil and refining to the United States. Limited refining capability, especially with the specialty summer fuels season approaching, means even greater costs to the public for no other reason that Obama’s ideologically driven anti-capitalist socio-economic agenda.

As a side note, people should really look at the government’s own profits it receives from oil. You’d be surprised (or not). It’s one reason neither party is truly concerned with driving oil prices back down to a reasonable level for the public. They’re making money off the backs of the American people (again).

How Not to Discuss Immigration (Or Any Issue): Obama Mocks GOP

Obama mocks Republican position on immigration – Boston.com

“Maybe they’ll need a moat,” he said derisively to laughter from the crowd. “Maybe they’ll want alligators in the moat.”

Hey, if it works might as well try it. [!] [1] (<–FYI, this is sarcasm by the way. I feel the need to point this out since such subtlety is lost on political pundits and assorted internet crackpots.)

But seriously now. The President calls for civility and calm dialogue but then pulls a stunt like this? I wish I could say I’m surprised but I am not. It’s classic Alinsky[2]-ism and indicative of the corruption of those who follow this brand of progressivism. This is the same old ‘do as I say, not as I do’ attitude prevalent amongst the Washington political elite who view not only their opposition with disdain (at best) and contempt (at worst) but the American people as well. It’s unsurprising the President would use this uncivil and divisive tone on an issue to try and generate meager support. Sadly, all Mr. Obama did was highlight his contempt for his fellow citizens in several ways.

The first group the President shows his contempt for Hispanics and Latinos. Mr. Obama promises this segment of the population citizenship for millions of illegal aliens by calling it “reform” while making the racist and ethnically-biased assumption that all Hispanics and Latinos “stick together”, support illegal immigration, and always support Democrats. He assumes the Hispanic and Latino population are too stupid to understand the issues involved in genuinely reforming immigration and that by quoting a few catch phrases and keywords that they’ll simply flock to his political banner. The problem is that there are many legal Hispanic/Latino citizens who vehemently oppose illegal immigration and the associated criminal activity it entails and want current immigration laws stringently enforced.

The next group the President insults is the middle class. He foolishly thinks he can convince American workers, worried about getting and keeping their jobs in this long running recession, will welcome the idea of millions of more illegal immigrants being given citizenship or work permits to flood the job market as well as taking up valuable openings at American educational institutions (via the DREAM Act).  If the gruel you eat is too thin to be nutritious you don’t add more water to make it thinner.

The third group he insults is the group he needs most to get genuine reform done: the Congress. Yes he was primarily blasting Republicans but the reality is a sizable number of Democrats agree with Republicans with respect to issues relating to immigration. It’s the Democratic elitist leadership that ignores its rank and file members calls for a moderate and non-politicized approach to issues like immigration that are the real problem. Illegal immigration, and other national issues, will not be solved until the useless rhetoric and political brinkmanship favored by the elitists to destroy unity amongst Americans.

And finally he insults all American by one more trying to divert attention away from the real, number one issue of the day: the economy and the continuing decline of the American middle class and businesses. Prices are up for food and fuel, the American dollar is weak due to the Feds over printing, unemployment is climbing once more, and property values are dropping again but instead of attending to the economy the President decides to play political games once more.

So I feel compelled to remind the President of why his poll numbers are tanking and his policies are unpopular with a popular phrase from the Clinton Administration era: It’s the economy, stupid! So stop mocking, stop campaigning a year and a half before the election, get off the television, get back to the White House, and do your job.

Note:
[1] [!] is a sarcasm emote, FYI. I intend to make greater use of it since I do tend to get sarcastic in a number of my posts when faced with the inanities of the world.

Obama’s Disasterous Foreign Policies

A Layman’s Guide to Obama’s Nuclear Posture Review – Political Hotsheet – CBS News

While all reasonably minded people agree Nuclear proliferation is a concern to be addressed, this unfortunately was not the way to do so. Applying inane notions of reciprocity with respect to weapons of mass destruction (WMD) is dangerous. The intent behind deterrence is to ensure peace through the classic cold war program of mutually assured destruction regardless of the WMD used. Striping away that deterrence will only harken the world into a dangerous new age that encourages hostile nation states to attack the U.S. with non-nuclear WMD believing they will not face obliteration in return.

So our obviously woefully ignorant and misguided President is of the notion that appeasement and pandering to our enemies will some how make them like us, that somehow the policy of deterrence that worked so well is no longer needed even as hostile nation states in ever increasing numbers seek weapons of mass destruction, and that abandoning our allies will somehow restore U.S. leadership and standing in the world.

Boy, I feel safer all ready. /sarcasm

I feel sorry for Taiwan in the shadow of China, the former Soviet republics bordering Russia, South Korea, and a dozen or so other allies who will now be left to wonder if Obama will sacrifice their lives and sovereignty just to try and claim he made great strides in nuclear nonproliferation and stroke his ego. More than that I feel sorry for people around the world who looked to the U.S. to help deter the expansion and growing threat of WMD proliferation through tougher sanctions and negotiations and found capitulation to tyrants instead.

I seriously now wonder whether President Obama is merely incompetent or completely corrupt. I’d prefer to think he was merely an incompetent fool than a willing accomplice in empowering and emboldening America’s enemies while destroying credibility and reliability amongst U.S. allies. Unfortunately his recent behavior and actions by his administration show that he is in the latter category rather than the former. I cite Obama’s increasing feud with Karzai that started by the ineptness of the Obama administration and has continued with the increased perception by many Afghans of undue foreign interference in their government. (I suspect Obama is trying to manufacture an excuse to get out of Afghanistan to appease his left-wing anti-war extremists.) Add to this the growing rift between the Obama administration with Israel, especially with the arrogantly dismissive manner Obama has treated Netanyahu and treating the issues between Israel and Palestine as a one sided affair with Israel playing the role of villain while conveniently ignoring the terrorists lurking in Palestine.

The ObamaCare Battles Continue

One reason (as if you need any more) why you should hate Obamacare:

The very politicians who’ve made Americans indentured servants to the state for their health care exempted themselves from the law. Convenient that what’s “good for America” isn’t good enough for their sorry elitist asses.

Obama’s Executive Order

Executive orders apply only to the executive branch, so effectively the order is useless for the pro-lifers out there with respect to health care. Unless of course, Obama plans to socialize the system, which will only add to the growing firestorm in this country.

Az AG Goddard

Arizona’s gutless wonder Attorney General Goddard has revealed his true stripes as a DNC puppet by his refusal to defend Arizonan’s rights. I hope Mr. Goddard realizes he’s just killed his chances of higher office in Arizona. Arizonans want someone who’ll stand up to Washington, the corrupt Parties, and the special interests, not cower and kowtow to them.

Threats Against Congressmen

Just plain idiotic to threaten them. Save the rage for this summer’s townhalls and the November ballot box. If they rig the elections or attempt voter intimidation to save their political careers, then you rightfully and justly lash out to defend yourself from their machinations. To do anything else allows the corrupt opressors to whine and grovel and claim victim status in an attempt to silence dissent. Already they’re trying to use a handful of instances to try to suppress the voice of the opposition and ordinary concerned people.

Woe to the Republic: Obamacare Passes

Woe to the Republic: Obamacare Passes

House Passes Sweeping Health Care Overhaul Bill – ABC News

Sadly, and not unexpectedly, members of Congress have revealed their true intent to destroy the republic and all it’s institutions a bit at a time. If nothing else, Americans should now be pleased to know exactly who are the betrayers, the thieves, the elitists who believe they know better how individuals should live than the individuals themselves.

What negative things Americans have to look forward to:

  • Mandatory requirement to buy insurance or face fines and imprisonment. (Even communist nations never had such inane provisions.)
  • Increased taxes.
  • Increased taxes on business.
  • Corporate welfare for insurance companies. (The precedent was set with GM.)
  • Medicaid cuts.
  • Doctors quiting medicine burdening the system with a higher doctor-patient ratio.
  • Increase the IRS with 16,500 agents to enforce the system.
  • Punishing “Cadillac” plans.
  • Exempting Goverment officials from the law they impose on the citizenry.
  • Paying 10 years of taxes for only 6 years of program.
  • Fees on medical device manufacturers, insurance providers, and pharma.
  • A little known silly tax: 10% tax on indoor tanning services.
  • Freeze Medicare payments to insurers providing coverage.

Obviously none of the above does a single thing to address the core of the issue: cost containment. Massively increasing taxes and increasing costs while decreasing services and doctor availability only adds to the burden of all Americans. So insurance companies wouldn’t be able to deny based on pre-existing conditions. So what? The same result could have been garnered on single slip of paper and voted into place without complaint by anyone. Tort reform? A few pages crafted to be a balanced approach for all. Medicare? Simple, stop raiding the funds and put the money that was stolen back into it. Same thing for Medicaid.

There are many numerous ways to have addressed the problems with the medical system. But in typical arrogant fashion the pigs in Congress deemed it their right to ignore the people and impose their agenda making sure that they and their associates are exempt and free to pillage the national coffers as much as they desire no matter what harm comes.

» ObamaCare: To Pass Or Not to Pass – Big Government

The Democrats and the White House are lost in a legislative “fog of war” right now. They are focused on twisting enough arms, offering jobs and negotiating specific “deals” (bribes) to get them to 216 votes. Their attention and energy is focused exclusively on a final vote in the House tonight. No one is looking even one minute beyond that horizon. They are like a general who pours all his reserves into taking a symbolic bridge, never realizing that his lines have already collapsed and his flanks have been turned. They may take the bridge and get to 216 votes. (I’ve learned to never bet against Congressional leadership and an Administration united for a single legislative victory. ) But, they have already lost the war. They have deluded themselves that if they can…just…get…this…bill…passed, the public’s anger and attention will subside, they can put health care ‘behind them’ and they can focus on other ‘popular’ measures that will shore up their election prospects in November.

Indeed, this is but the opening shot in a battle that is to soon embroil an entire nation in the coming months. A battle not involving just the thirty six states that move to oppose this unprecedented expansion of the Federal government into the domain of the individual states, the operations of business, and the private lives of the citizenry, but the nation in its entirety. Whether it is in the coming days of lawsuits and constitutional lawyers or at the ballot box come November, Obamacare will fail. It’s only a matter of what political parties and politicians fall with it.

And fall they will.

So I will not end this post on a negative, defeated note. Victory for the people lies solely with the people. And they will be heard over the special interests and droning elitists. Hail to the Republic!

Remember in November!

Obama’s $3.8 Trillion Budget

Obama’s $3.8 Trillion Budget Boosts Defense, Education Spending — Politics Daily

So much for the President’s vaunted claims of getting government spending under control. Any politician supporting budgets proposals that add to the debt and increase the deficit should be thrown out of office. The American people are not the Federal government’s slaves to be raped and pillaged at the whims of irresponsible fools.

What’s needed is genuine fiscal constraint. The American people will understand the need to end unnecessary spending like pork projects and so-called “job stimulus” packages. So too will they understand the need to end tax credits and temporary tax cuts during this poor economic time so that all are paying their full and complete fair share of taxes and reduce the strain on revenues needed for programs. The military will understand not getting $160 billion that they didn’t ask for in the first place. Homeland security will understand that they don’t need a 2% increase that could be recouped by simply eliminating the massive wasted spending in that department already. College students will understand if there is not a increase in Pell grants. Tech firms will understand that they should not get federal funds for their clean energy technology.

Why would all these accept these? Because, if they are genuinely honest with themselves, they know that such things are unnecessary and unsustainable. Those intellectually honest people with integrity know that to accept such unnecessary spending will only further burden themselves, their future generations and their fellow Americans, leading to greater economic decline and perhaps even eventual collapse that would leave everyone destitute and in universal poverty.

The age of fiscal responsibility is at hand. The rampant and selfish greed and corruption from the government on down to the individual can no longer be tolerated when it threatens the whole. Those, like the President, who support such activities can no longer be allowed to have any influence in such decisions as they willingly destroy the future of all for their selfish short sighted gain. People such as these lay blame to those before them, even when they too were among the ones making the decisions, in order to deceive and deny that reality they created so they can continue their destructive ways while denying their own corrupt nature. The future can no longer be mortgaged, condemning future generations to economic slavery and eroded quality of life.

The steps to starting fiscal responsibility is simple:

  • No more pork projects.
  • No more stimulus bills.
  • No more bailouts.
  • No corporate well fare in any form.
  • Mandatory open bids for all government contracts.
  • No more gimmicky tax breaks and credits. Keeping the tax rate constant would better serve in determining and designing budgets that the yearly mickey mouse games the American people have to go through every year. An individual or couple do not deserve special dispensation because they chose to buy a house or a car. Giving such abreak unfairly burdens the rest who have to make up for the loss through either higher taxes or an increase in the national debt.
  • Reform tax codes so both individuals and business can operate without fear of being targeted.
  • Balanced budget requirements without any extensions or loopholes for any reason.
  • No more Fed bailouts of States. The State governments need to bring themselves under fiscal control knowing the Fed will no longer cover their corruption.
  • Finance reform to end speculators and financial institutes from continuing their dangerous practices.
  • Mandatory government spending freezes until the debt is gone.
  • Mandatory government wage freezes for all (including politicians) until the debt is gone.
  • End wasteful government programs or hand them over to more cost effective and efficiently run private sector businesses (i.e. The U.S. Postal Service and AmTrack).

It’s not easy and may take time, but in the end it will be worth it to all.
